Seachtain Na Gaelige Celebrations at St. Joseph’s, Crossmaglen |
On Friday the 12th March ,St .Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen hosted an extremely successful ceili , organised by the Irish Department. This was one of many activities organised to celebrate Seachtain Na Gaelige. The music was provided by the Cathal McAnulty’s Céilí Band who ensured everyone got on their feet. It was wonderful to see all members of the community partake in the dancing and craic. An art competition was also held, where students designed posters to celebrate this event. The standard was very high and the winners were chosen with difficulty. Throughout the school there has been a concerted effort to be ‘Ag caint as Gaelige’ . St. Joseph’s has partaken in a real celebration of the Irish culture over the last two weeks.

Students spread a little Love and help 4 local children travel to Lourdes |
Following the Valentine’s day charity drive, St. Joseph’s High School Crossmaglen, is delighted to be able to fund a trip to Lourdes for a sick child from each of the four Lourdes committee Areas – Upper Creggan Diocesan Lourdes Hospitalite, Lower Creggan Lourdes Committee, St. Brigid’s Lourdes Invalid Committee and Upper Creggan Lourdes Committee (founded 1963) . P6 PUPILS ENJOY TASTE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL AT ST. JOSEPH’S |
| Friday last, 26TH th February saw St. Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen open its doors to over 175 Primary 6 pupils from the local feeder schools. This innovative idea, organised by Mr. Oliver Short , Head of Junior School, is an opportunity for students to get a taste of secondary school. Pupils had the opportunity to experience exciting lessons in Technology and Design, Science, I.C.T. , Home Economics and P.E. They were expertly guided and helped during these lesson by KS3 pupils from St. Joseph’s .The day was extremely successful and enjoyed by all.

| St. Joseph’s Students are practising their ceili dancing in preparation for an upcoming event in the school. On Friday 12thth March, the school will host a ceili , organised by the Irish Department, in celebration of Seachtain Na Gaelige. The music will provided by the Cathal McAnulty’s Céilí Band. Everyone is welcome to attend, doors open at 8:00pm and all proceeds go towards Gaeltacht scholarships.

St. Joseph’s Crossmaglen Learning Support Team Complete Training |
| The Learning Support Team in St. Joseph’s High School , Crossmaglen was recently trained in delivering ‘Toe by Toe’ .This is a finely structured reading intervention programme designed to meet the needs of children who have difficulty with their reading. All members of the support team look forward to putting their training into practice and will continue to develop their professional development in line with the Department of Education’s drive for improving literacy skills.

St. Joseph’s Do it Again - Senior School Pupils take first place in Gael Linn Quiz |
St. Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen emerged victorious from the annual Gael Linn quiz for senior students. This win is building on the success of the Juniors who were also victorious in the quiz and went on recently to become Ulster champions. |

St. Joseph’s Pupil’s Art Work Part of Prestigious Exhibition |
| Claire Murray a current A-level pupil at St. Joseph’s High School Crossmaglen was recently chosen to have her work displayed in an exhibition entitled ‘True Colours’. This is an annual exhibition which showcases the very best pieces of G.C.S.E. and A level art, throughout Northern Ireland. Claire is one of a very small number whose work was chosen. The school is very proud of her achievements. Claire is currently studying Art at A-level and hopes to pursue it in the future.
